Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that acts as a selective growth hormone secretagogue, binding to the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a). Unlike other GHRPs, Ipamorelin shows high selectivity for GH release without significantly stimulating cortisol, prolactin or ACTH.

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that acts as a growth hormone secretagogue, binding to the GH secretagogue receptor, also known as the ghrelin receptor.
In terms of chemical identity, it is classified as GH secretagogue pentapeptide, its CAS number is 170851-70-4, its molecular weight is 711.85 g/mol. These identifiers are what allow the material received to be checked against the batch Certificate of Analysis.

Unlike GHRH analogs, it acts on the ghrelinergic pathway. Its characteristic trait in the literature is selectivity: it is described as one of the secretagogues with the least effect on the release of cortisol, prolactin and follicle-stimulating hormone, compared with earlier compounds of the same family such as GHRP-6 or GHRP-2.
That selectivity is why it frequently appears combined with GHRH analogs in experimental designs: since they act on different receptors, the two pathways are complementary rather than redundant.

It is prohibited in competitive sport as a growth hormone secretagogue, within class S2 of the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

The vial is delivered lyophilized, that is, as a dry powder obtained by freeze-drying. In that form it is stable and does not require a cold chain during transport: shipping does not compromise the material. On receipt, it is kept refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C, protected from light.

The volume is not fixed — more water gives a more dilute solution with a larger measuring margin; less water concentrates it — and the choice depends on the working protocol.
The diluent is added slowly along the wall of the vial, never directly onto the powder, and left to rest for five to ten minutes. The vial is swirled gently until fully dissolved; shaking it hard subjects the peptide to mechanical stress that can denature it. Once reconstituted, it is kept refrigerated and is not frozen.
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which allows multiple draws from the same vial. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is only suitable for immediate use. Signs of degradation to watch for: cloudy solution, visible particles, change in color or odor.
