VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide present in the enteric, central and peripheral nervous systems. It acts through the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, exerting effects on vasodilation, immunomodulation, circadian rhythm and tissue protection in multiple systems.

The vial is delivered lyophilized, that is, as a dry powder obtained by freeze-drying. In that form it is stable and does not require a cold chain during transport: shipping does not compromise the material. On receipt, it is kept refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C, protected from light.
For the VIP strengths, a reference reconstitution would be: el vial de 10 mg with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water queda a 10 mg/mL. The volume is not fixed — more water gives a more dilute solution with a larger measuring margin; less water concentrates it — and the choice depends on the working protocol.
The diluent is added slowly along the wall of the vial, never directly onto the powder, and left to rest for five to ten minutes. The vial is swirled gently until fully dissolved; shaking it hard subjects the peptide to mechanical stress that can denature it. Once reconstituted, it is kept refrigerated and is not frozen.
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which allows multiple draws from the same vial. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is only suitable for immediate use. Signs of degradation to watch for: cloudy solution, visible particles, change in color or odor.
