5-Amino-1MQ (5-Amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a membrane-permeable inhibitor of NNMT (Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase), an enzyme that converts nicotinamide into N-methylnicotinamide while consuming SAM (S-adenosylmethionine). By inhibiting NNMT, it increases intracellular NAD+ and SAM levels.

The volume is not fixed — more water gives a more dilute solution with a larger measuring margin; less water concentrates it — and the choice depends on the working protocol.
The diluent is added slowly along the wall of the vial, never directly onto the powder, and left to rest for five to ten minutes. The vial is swirled gently until fully dissolved; shaking it hard subjects the peptide to mechanical stress that can denature it. Once reconstituted, it is kept refrigerated and is not frozen.
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which allows multiple draws from the same vial. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is only suitable for immediate use. Signs of degradation to watch for: cloudy solution, visible particles, change in color or odor.
